Rudi Gens:

Summary

I am an Engineering Specialist at the Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF), Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), USA. I earned my MSc degree in Surveying and Mapping as well as a doctoral degree in Engineering from the University of Hannover, Germany. My research specialization is in the processing and applications of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and Interferometric SAR (InSAR) data, and their synergistic use with other remote sensing and GIS datasets. I extended my management skills by earning an MBA degree from UAF. My current duties include metadata and special project management as well as remote sensing research and software development.

At ASF I have developed a variety of software tools for making SAR data more accessible and usable, have provided technical support to a large remote sensing user community, and have used satellite data to improve understanding of the changing Arctic landscapes and the processes guiding these changes.

I have taught courses for the Department of Geology and Geophysics at UAF and delivered customized training courses as well as conference workshops. I was an associate editor of the International Journal of Remote Sensing for six years. I am a senior member of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society.

Should you have any technical questions about remote sensing and GIS data processing and analysis, or have trouble in handling large data volumes, or if you are interested in incorporating remote sensing data in your research, do not hesitate to contact me. I enjoy collaborative research and extending my digital data processing expertise to benefit a wide variety of application areas.
